Pradhan Mantri's Employment Generation Programe (PMEGP) is a credit-linked subsidy scheme that aims to generate self-employment opportunities by providing financial support to micro-enterprises and small businesses. It was launched by the Ministry of MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises), Government of India, to promote entrepreneurship, especially among youth, women, SC/STs, OBCs, and minorities.
The program primarily focuses on the creation of micro-enterprises in both urban and rural areas, thereby contributing to the overall economic development and employment generation. It provides financial assistance in the form of subsidy and bank loans to entrepreneurs for setting up new businesses or expanding existing ones.
