National Rural Livelihood Mission

The National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) is a government initiative launched by the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) in India with the primary goal of promoting sustainable livelihoods for rural poor households, especially those led by women.

NRLM is also referred to as Aajeevika and aims to empower rural people, enhance their economic self-sufficiency, and improve their socio-economic conditions through community-driven initiatives. The key feature of NRLM is its focus on the collective empowerment of women through the formation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and their linkage with financial institutions, ensuring access to affordable credit, skills training, and market linkages.
